Dear friends,
we’ve been brewing something fine in our coven. And after weeks of collaborative effort, I am super proud to present to you our first wild punky DIY Gnostic Technology Zine.
Our little group’s been meeting regularly for over a year to discuss esotericism, technology, art, religion, philosophy, herbalism and so much more, growing and exploring together. We felt it was time to incarcerate our memory in an appropriate physical vessel and share our excitement for the vast lands of the unknown.
And also share a lot of fun we had while on it.
The 0th issue is a mapping of our features a wrap-up of the Tarot of the Latent spaces, with some sneak peeks from the training process of the StyleGan models. There are several beautifully illustrated essays on herbalism, like the study of the Devil’s Trumpet, synthetically generated mythology around Mugwort and a fairy tale about The First Dandelion. The second half is focused on the Image Form meditation, with the practice description and insights and at the very end, you can find our themed book recommendations.
The whole issue contains gorgeous human-made illustrations, but also displays our active fooling around phase with DALL-E and Stable Diffusion, freshly baked text-to-image and image-to-image generative models. We also experimented with various debates with language models and conspiracy theories, and you’ll find the general air of aliens and mischief.
Our freshly launched website contains a little info about the contributors and a download link for the pdf! The print copies (A5 format, ~50 pages all glossy and lush) are already running low in Europe and the UK, but we’re planning to stock them properly soon, so hit me up if you’d like to possess a physical manifestation of our babe. But beware - this is my first physical print work, so it’s all punky and jaggedy. But with love, with love!
And as a little teaser, here’s one of my panels, a poem finished by the GPT-3.
You can see the rest 【here】, together with the links to the contributor’s websites and Instagrams. If you enjoyed some of the articles, don’t be shy to drop the author a message! (the symbols at the bottom of the articles map to our names on the last page). We are always happy to discuss.
As I mentioned already, it’s a work of love. We’re not making any profit on this, but if you liked the project, or received a physical copy for free, please do drop us some coins for a coffee through the donate button ~ to help us host the website, manage printing and other mundane tasks. Or just share us around, hide your copy in the local library, church or a coffee shop and keep the synchronicity machine rolling.
Stay kind,
k
